Handloom Sarees Art Silk Sarees/ Powerloom Sarees
Handloom sarees are treasures woven by skilled artisans, often using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Art silk sarees, short for artificial silk are mass-produced using modern manufacturing techniques such as mechanized looms or power looms.
Since weaving process is done manually on a handloom allowing greater detailing and customisation. Designs and patterns are standardized. customisation is not possible.
Natural fibres such as cotton, silk, wool, linen is used ensuring superior comfort, durability and breathability. Synthetic fibres such as polyester, nylon, or rayon they mimic the appearance of silk but lack the authenticity and craftsmanship of handloom sarees.
Each handloom saree is a labour of love, reflecting the painstaking efforts of the weavers who pour their expertise and artistry into every thread. Hence to make each saree it takes from few days to months depending on the intricate hand work & craftsmanship required. Since they are made from synthetic fibres and mass produced on machines, they are more affordable and budget-friendly compared to handloom sarees.
The quality of handloom sarees is unparalleled. The richness of these fabrics lends a luxurious feel to handloom sarees, making them highly sought after by women of elite class having great taste & favourite among Bollywood celebrities too.  While powerloom sarees may be affordable, they often compromise on quality. They lack the richness and durability of natural fibres used in handloom sarees.
Handloom sarees needs to be dry cleaned only. Power loom sarees can be hand washed or machine washed.

Handloom weaving is not just a craft; it's a way of life for many artisans. By supporting handloom sarees, you are contributing to the preservation of traditional weaving techniques and empowering skilled artisans. Moreover, handloom production is environmentally friendly, as it often involves organic materials and minimizes carbon footprint.

In contrast, powerloom textiles demand substantial energy, contributing to carbon emissions. The large-scale production and energy consumption in powerlooms make them less environmentally friendly compared to handloom textiles.
